Xi’An City Wall

IMG_0198Admittedly, one of our favorite parts of Xi’an was visiting the city wall.  Think Great Wall of China, but on a smaller scale.  It’s purpose was to defend the city from outside attacks, and though the modern city has grown past the walls borders, it’s still a good eight miles of well-preserved stone wall surrounding the center of the city.  A few of my classmates chose to ride bikes around the entirety of it, while a couple others and myself decided to just stroll and see the city and admittedly goof around a bit.

The wall is nice because it allows you to see a lot of the city without worrying about traffic or running into large crowds of people (at least on the day that we were there.)  It was actually a lot of fun.

More posts coming very soon!  I want to get all of my China posts up so that I can focus entirely on what’s going on with my life in Japan right now.
