Pre-Departure

Okay, so I’ve attended Pre-Departure meetings for both China and Japan now, and while I feel that I’m on track with China (still need to get the visa, but I’ve booked my flights and whatever), I’m more than confused and frustrated with the Japan program.  We have yet to be given any information on a) when we need to book our flight, b) what to do for our visas, c) how we should get from the airport to the school once we’re there, or d) what classes we’ll be taking once we’re there.  We assumed that we would go over this information at the meeting, but it was literally just general information on what to do abroad, knowing that we must follow the rules/laws of the country we are staying in, etc., and then being split into groups and asking questions/getting tips from people who have been abroad before.  I mean, that’s great and all, I did answer some important questions about things like cell phones, doing laundry, etc.  But I still don’t know when I’m supposed to book my flight, and prices are going up.  I’m a little disappointed so far, to be honest.  Hopefully, once we’re actually in Japan, things will be better organized.ImageImage

My next posts will probably be about what to pack, what people have told me to pack, what I think I will actually need based on experience, etc.
